Privacy and data protection
- Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI)
This is general guidance, not legal advice. ResearchDart never receives survey answers, which keeps sensitive data inside your survey platform.
Quota geography
47 prefectures, usually grouped into eight regions (Hokkaido, Tohoku, Kanto, Chubu, Kinki, Chugoku, Shikoku, Kyushu-Okinawa).
Time zones and timing
One time zone (JST), no daylight saving.
Fielding notes
- Japanese respondents tend to avoid the extremes of rating scales, so compare scale results against Japanese benchmarks rather than global ones.
- Machine-translated questionnaires are easy for respondents to spot; budget for native review.
- Golden Week (late April to early May) and Obon (mid August) shift availability.
Setting up a Japan project
Create the project with country JP and the survey language. If you field more than one language, create one project per language so quotas and incidence are tracked separately.
