Privacy and data protection
- California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA
- A growing set of state privacy laws (for example Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas)
- COPPA when any respondent may be under 13
This is general guidance, not legal advice. ResearchDart never receives survey answers, which keeps sensitive data inside your survey platform.
Quota geography
Census regions (Northeast, Midwest, South, West) and the nine census divisions are the common quota frame; state or DMA quotas are used for local studies.
Time zones and timing
Six time zones across the 50 states. Launching at 9am Eastern gives West Coast respondents an early start and pushes Hawaii into the night, so soft-launch fills skew east.
Fielding notes
- Hispanic quotas usually need both English and Spanish survey versions; route Spanish-preferring respondents to the Spanish link rather than relying on in-survey language switching.
- Nested quotas on age, gender, region, ethnicity and income are standard for nationally representative studies. Set them in the survey platform and send overquota respondents to the overquota endlink so the supplier can stop sending that cell.
- Healthcare studies touching patient data should avoid collecting anything that would count as protected health information.
Setting up a United States project
Create the project with country US and the survey language. If you field more than one language, create one project per language so quotas and incidence are tracked separately.
